Preparing the ground for a psilocybin journey

Psilocybin doesn’t change who you are, but it can help you return to yourself.

What is psilocybin therapy?

Psilocybin services in Colorado are offered to adults 21+ within the state’s regulated model and must include three parts: preparation, a supervised administration session, and integration—all with a state-licensed facilitator at a licensed healing center. For now, “natural medicine” in this program means psilocybin and psilocin (through at least June 1, 2026). Read more from the Healing Advocacy Fund about psilocybin therapy in Colorado.

What does psilocybin do?

Psilocybin is converted (in the gut) to psilocin, which activates serotonin (5-HT2A) receptors and temporarily reorganizes brain network activity—especially connections involving the default mode network (DMN). Recent imaging shows psilocybin can desynchronize network patterns for weeks, which may help loosen rigid thought loops. The medicine can open the window, and integration helps your habits and supports change.

Where do I start?

You’ll first meet with a facilitator for a safety screening & preparation (intention-setting, informed consent, safety plan) session. Your administration session happens at our licensed healing center with a licensed facilitator. Afterward, integration helps you translate insights into daily life.

Integration is the process of turning a psychedelic experience into real-life change. It’s where you make meaning of what happened, decide what—if anything—needs to shift, and take small, doable steps that support your wellbeing. Think of it as tending the soil after a rain: the session waters the ground; integration helps new growth take root.
